You talk, I’ll write

Wow. I met my Tapestries guy today, a gentleman called Vincenz from Germany. I was vaguely worried that we would have a hard time talking, and boy was I ever wrong! He talked for an hour straight, fascinating stories about life as a prisoner of war in French and American POW camps, and coming to St Louis from Germany. I have eight pages of notes to write up now. We set up a date for our next meeting, and I think he’s looking forward to it.

(Tapestries is a program where you interview a resident of a nursing home and help them write their life stories, ending up with a proper bound book at the end, using the Memories Inked software and publication system. There was training back in August, two people from church are already working with other residents.)

  1. What a wonderful program, is this a wide spread practice? Just giving these people some company is a gift in itself, recording their recollections is even better. Kudo’s to you and all that practice this humane endeavor!!
