Spinning silk is wonderful! I’m hoping this is going to turn out as fingering weight. There’s no tension on my brake band and it’s pulling in just enough. I’m using the middle ratio on the Louet most of the time. The unspun silk feels floppy and almost not there it’s so light. This is about half an ounce:
Something odd happens when I’m pulling the roving apart into chunks: static! Both ends flare out like anenomes. Takes a while to calm it back down. Silk is a lot of fun to spin, and it’s easy to get thin singles. I’m hoping what I’ve learned here will transfer to spinning wool.
Holy moley, look how fine you’re spinning! 🙂
I bet it feels just fantastic to see that happening on your bobbin.
Pretty!
Love the silk! I have some but have never gotten up the courage to try it. Maybe you’ll inspire me!
