Book review: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

The text for Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" is in the public domain, which means people can pick it up, put in a storyline about zombies, and totally revamp one of my favourite classics.  And I love it!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want to more brains

The text is about 85% Austen and 15% zombie, most of the extra or changed stuff slots in very easily.  It's not a perfect blend, but it works surprisingly well.  Took it with me to Memphis for training, and had trouble putting it down.  Read to the halfway point by the third day, Darcy proposes to Elizabeth and she kicks him into the mantelpiece.  I hadn't expected to like it this much.

There is a piece about the book in the New York Times, and another in Entertainment Weekly.  Find it in the Humour section of the book store.  And read it.  Then read the original version.
