Bribery
An essential part of NaNoWriMo are the bribes for reaching a certain wordcount. My bribes are thus:
- 25,000 words: Stephen King's book On Writing.
- 40,000 words: Stargate SG-1 season 8 on DVD
- 50,000 words: A skein of Socks that Rock yarn from The Fold in either Harvest Moon, Moss Agate, or Scottish Highlands .
In No Plot, No Problem Chris Baty says that 35,000 words is the break point and it's all downhill from there. Last year season seven of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was my 40,000 word bribe, but I didn't have time to watch it until after I'd finished the whole novel a few days later. My goal is to write at least 2,000 words a day. That gives some room for Thanksgiving.
The St Louis kick off party is on Sunday from 3pm to 5pm at the Ladue Barnes and Noble. See you there!
