Can't talk, writing a novel

Just crossed the 5.5k mark.  I'm aiming at 2,000 words a day and so far all of my characters are miserable, except the cat.  Writing was hard the first day, it's flowing a lot better now.

The St Louis region is in a Word War with Indianapolis IN, Dayton OH, Columbus OH, and (probably) Louisville KY.  We have an official write-in on Sunday, 3-5pm at the Bread Co in Clayton on Central.

It's quite hard to describe Abraham Lincoln without mentioning who he is.  I'm hoping at least someone will get who I'm talking about when they read the first chapter.  Several characters are clamouring for bigger roles, and the cat, who was only supposed to be an incidental character, has turned out to have a pivotal role.
