Chitin socks
For Susan at Myer's House, I have this picture:
It's the Tofutsies yarn (wool, cotton, soy silk and chitin from crab and shrimp shells), with the Elfine Socks pattern (PDF). The yarn label says:
Chitin is fiber from shrimp and crab shells! It's naturally antibacterial!
(And that's one too many exclamation marks for me! ;-) )
The elfine socks lace has a 16 row repeat, with an all-knit row every other row. Shockingly I made it through a whole repeat without mistakes, and I like how it looks. It's looser than some of my other socks, but I think it'll be OK. The yarn is a bit splitty, but it's not a huge problem, and it is slippery.
A few pattern mods: Sherman heel and toe because I like the look, and a picot cast-off because I cast off far too tightly. I did get a pattern today, Lupine Lace socks from Fiber Trends, but I think this yarn is too thin for it.
