Church-like substances
Midwest Conservative Journal referred to the Church of England yesterday as "I Can't Believe It's Not Roman Catholicism" and it makes me laugh every time I read it. Rowan Williams is the new Archbishop of Canterbury, for what it's worth. He's a liberal, but I don't see him making a major difference to life as we know it.
A couple of thoughts from yesterday:
1 Peter 3:14-16
But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened." But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
Christians don't win any friends by being unpleasant to the non Christians. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and feelings, whether we agree with them or not. Especially if not. Civility, gentleness and respect go a long way, partly because they're not as common as they used to be. Lynn, I hope you have a better day today, and a good rest-of-week.
