Serious pattern mods on this one. I didn't use sock weight yarn, increased the width of the main section, used smaller needles for the row before and after the divide for the slot, cast on and bind off at six stitches not three, made only one slot not two. I did keep the stitch pattern for the main part but it's hard to see through the angora halo.
Found 2 knots in my skein, they were less than a foot apart so I dealt with both at once. There were no knots in the rest of the skein. Several people on Ravelry mentioned the yarn snapping while they worked but I didn't have a problem with that, even though my knitting tension is somewhere between "extremely stressed" and "guitar string about to break".
Tried making a version of this in Crystal Palace Mini Mochi, and I am never buying that yarn again. Yarn with long colour gradients should not have multiple knots that ruin the gradients. Found two knots in the first QUARTER of the skein that ruined the colour transitions. Others on Ravelry have had the same quality issues with their yarn
Wore this to the NaNoWriMo TGIO party and it helped keep the cold away. The angora was slightly prickly at first but not enough to be a bother. Writing a novel in the middle of this project made it drag on far longer than it should have.
