Properly practiced, knitting soothes the troubled spirit.  And it doesn't hurt the untroubled spirit, either.

It is virtually impossible to take a good photo of your own foot, much less one where you can see the lace pattern, but it is there.  The colours are pretty true to life.  These went fine until the heel of sock #2, which had to be redone twice after the stitch holders dropped out.  It's thinner than standard sock weight, made up of at least four plies that don't always stay together, and very slippery on metal needles.  These are my first pair of all-over lace socks and they came out light and floppy, good for summer.  The lace is a stretchy 16 row repeat, I only messed it up a couple of times with missed yarnovers.  There is a slight dusty smell to the yarn that I'm hoping comes out in the wash.

Started the next pair in Slayer from Sweet Georgia, the yarn is wonderful!  Squishy, soft, and the colour of fresh blood with splashes of black.  My gauge swatch lied to me, so I'm ripping out and starting over with 4 less stitches.  Still deciding on which cable pattern to use from Sensational Knitted Socks.

I've never used the same sock yarn twice, but I'd make an exception for Sweet Georgia,  Lorna's Laces, and Mountain Colours Bearfoot.  Tofutsies is the best summer weight yarn I've used.  What's your favourite sock yarn for summer?
