Lift Off!
Full moon in the sky, and thousands of people have transformed into writers.
The first day of NaNowriMo was a 25 hour day, thanks to the end of Daylight Savings Time. Hubby went to the midnight write-in at our Municipal Liason's house and came back with 1700 words and a case of caffeine jitters, he was still up when I got up on Sunday to start my novel.
We went to the official write-in at the Clayton Bread Co, though we had to leave at 4pm. The manager was wonderful and said we could stay a half hour after they officially closed. We'd taken over his cafe and filled an otherwise dead Sunday afternoon, everyone bought something.
The Pointy Stick came to the write-in to motivate the troops, and it worked, St Louis region wrote 365,444 words yesterday! That's over 140,000 MORE than this time last year, and more per writer than Columbia MO, Indianapolis IN, and Dayton OH. We've also donated $1300 to NaNo, which is over $800 more than this time last year. Coincidence? I think not.
