Miscellany
Sony recalls copy-protected CDs. Good to see them doing the right thing, though they opened up a Pandora's box with the rootkit. I'll be checking the label on the CDs I buy from now on, I don't want Sony software on my system. If I have to have a Sony song I'll get it on iTunes.
NaNoWriMo is more than half over! Only another two weeks with the "cursed literary albatross" as Chris Baty put it. Coincidentally, I have a reference to Coleridge's Rime of the Ancient Mariner in my book. I'm at 39,000 words and on track for the final crisis tonight, another 1,000 and we get the Stargate SG-1 season 8 DVDs, another 11,000 and it's all done. I really have done exactly 39,000 words, I know it looks suspicious but it's true. The story has worked better than I was expecting. This year I plan to work on editing both my NaNoWriMo novels and see where they go. I like the idea of a "collected short novels of" book, even if it's one I make at Kinkos!
Suggestion for yarn shopping in London would be gratefully received. We will be visiting England over Christmas and New Year, and spending a day in town. I know Liberty's is a place to I want to visit. Forbidden Planet is a required stop for Big Finish Doctor Who audio dramas and the BBC Doctor Who books. Jack Horner's pub on Tottenham Court Road is a favourite lunchtime stop, they have great pies.
