Myers House yarn store
I wouldn't normally put a yarn store trip in a blog post, but this one rocked. It has been a bad week and Hubby had stuff to do on Saturday so I drove out to Myers House on my own. The store feels like a library, except you don't feel guilty for sneezing or laughing, and there's tons of soft yarn to play with. It's a relaxed place in the top floor of an 1800s house, no-one's in a hurry, complete strangers stop and chat.
I was looking for yarn to make the Comfort Shawl from Knitting Daily. Wrote down the yardage requirements on a 3x5 card, and a wishlist yarn, 3 balls of Rowan Felted Tweed in Ginger or Rage. I like Felted Tweed, though I've never knit with it and I didn't find any on my first pass through the store. I chatted with Nancy, squished some yarn, came up with a few alternatives, and on my second pass, I found it. Three balls of Rowan Felted Tweed in Ginger, huddled on a bottom shelf, waiting for me. It's mine now. Chatted some more with Nancy while I bought it. Saw Susan outside and chatted with her for a while.
I know everyone has different tastes in yarn stores, but these ladies made time to chat, asked how I was, and it felt so good to be known and remembered in a rotten week. Thank you.
