Telegraph report:  Fury as academics are sacked for being Israeli, by Charlotte Edwardes, filed: 07/07/2002.

Mona Baker, a professor at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), admitted yesterday that she had dismissed Dr Miriam Shlesinger and Prof Gideon Toury because of their nationality.

There are laws against this kind of treatment, the Race Relations bunch should be up and running.  Ms Baker used her position to express a personal opinion that has nothing to do with the work of the two Israeli's, because she "deplore[s] the Israeli state."
