Stretch goals
I'm not a "big projects" person. Some people can churn out shawls and sweaters in no time; I take about a month for a pair of socks and judge bigger projects in terms of how many sock's worth of yarn they use. 800g for a sweater represents (in theory) eight months work. But even by those standards, the Eternal Sweater, started in 1994, is woefully late. It's missing half the front and an arm. That's it. My goal is to finish that sweater by November 30th THIS YEAR.
I'll knit while Hubby writes his NaNoWriMo novel, instead of writing one myself. NaNoWriMo is about using a ridiculous deadline to get a 50,000 word novel done in 30 days flat. I've had that sweater on the needles since 1994, it's time to get it done. In November I'll work only the sweater, not a single stitch on anything else. And I'll get it finished. It's not an unrealistic deadline, right? I may need cheerleaders and/or a nagging crew to keep at it.
Look at that gorgeous cable pattern! It'll look so good when it's done. Got six repeats done on the trailing fuchsia scarf so far. It's an easy pattern, 20 rows by 8 stitches, three fuchsias across the scarf. The yarn feels sturdy and silky and warm, thickness varies just a little and there's no colour pooling. It's made from two strands of two ply, which feels really solid. One Opal Owl sock is finished and I'm getting better at the toe up heel flap construction. Different variations on that seem to be popping up everywhere. There's going to be a lot of yarn leftover from this pair, 463 yds in a ball. Weather is getting colder and darker, it'll be wool socks season soon.
