T minus seven

I'm looking at November with a tinge of panic.  My 2008 NaNoWriMo plot isn't as fleshed out as I like, I have only vague idea of how my good guy is going to defeat the bad guy.  There are some cool ideas but I need research on the floor plan of CERN, 8th century France, metal-smithing and/or glass blowing, England at the time of Jack the Ripper, and the Latin language.

Hubby has whipped up a fresh batch of NaNoWriMo word count widgets for your web pages to keep track of progress.  The participant widget will show your wordcount and username, and a different picture every five minutes (coffee mug, pens, computer, manuscript).  My favourites are the My Month and Progress report widgets.

Flicked through my almost-finished 2007 NaNoWriMo novel this week, and surprisingly it doesn't suck.  Sure there are typos and glitches, but it's not bad for a first draft done at lightening speed.  It's missing the final wrap-up chapter, which is probably going to be another thousand words.  NaNoWriMo has managed to get a deal with CreateSpace to get 2007 winners a free hard copy of their novel, and I'm going to polish it a bit before I get the book copy.  Did that for my 2006 novel, and it felt fantastic to have a book in my hands that I had written.  We have six months to take advantage of the deal, so that will be my December writing project.  Hopefully there will be a similar deal for the 2008 winners.

Can't stop, got a novel to plan out.  T minus seven and counting...
