NaNoWriMo 2010!
This is my seventh year doing National Novel Writing Month, I couldn't think of a November without it! The Kick Off party on Oct 24th at Fitz's on the Loop was the biggest I have ever seen, with over 70 people attending. There are write-ins scheduled for almost every day of the week through November, I hope to make it to three a week.
My plot is still shaky and largely undefined, but it's not worrying me much. In previous years, unexpected plot elements have just materialised as I was writing, and I have a broad-strokes idea of what's going on.
There are over 630 people signed up to the St Louis region, over half of them are new to NaNoWriMo this year! If you're doing NaNoWrimo, please affiliate to a region, and send in a donation to the Office of Letters and Light to keep the NaNo lights on and servers humming.
I'll be tracking statistics for the region to see how many words we write each day and what percentage of us have donated. Last year 20% of participants sent in a donation, this year it would be fabulous to see 30% of us donate.
We're using a new piece of kit for donations this year, the Square. Our Municipal Liason Jen (as opposed to our other Municipal Liason, known as "Other Jen") has one, so she can accept credit card donations in person and send those on to NaNo central at the end of the month. It's quick and fun, and it helps the NaNoWriMo we love.
